Wrought silver salver; flat, round dish with an applied, cast, scrolled lip with chased foliate decoration and an applied, cast, scalloped gadrooned rim; four hollow cast ball and claw feet; cipher engraved in the center in a scrolled reserve, "M D P" in foliate script; maker's marks stamped on the base.
The cipher engraved in the center possibly stands for Margaret De Peyster (1749-1819), who married Colonel Thomas James, the Commandant of British Regiment of the Royal Artillery in 1776.
