This is the finished watercolor drawn by Strickland from the original pencil sketch, also in the Society's collection (1958.63), which was done during his visit on October 16-17, 1794. The watercolor has been given the date ca. 1794, but it could have been rendered anytime subsequent to the artist's visit. An interesting watercolor replica (18 1/8 x 24 7/8 inches) of Strickland's 1794 view owned by the Society was in the collection of Hirschel and Adler Galleries, New York City, in 1978.
