Description:
Wood case housing typewriting machine; front of the case has a metal plate engraved with a feather quill and "Improved Hall Typewriter"; inside is a keyless typing device that is operated by placing the stylus over an opening indicating the correct character and pressing down on an activation lever. A label on the inside lid provides instruction and a plate on the typing platform is embossed "Hall Typewriter/ Pat. Mar. 1, 1881. Feb. 16, 1886./ Manufactured For/ National Typewriter Co./ Boston, Mass."
