Dark blue wool felt military trousers, with button fly at center front, with 7 black ceramic buttons, side slit pockets, adjustable waistline with metal buckle and strap at the back, inside lined with white and brown cotton; leg hems slightly longer at the back.
This aglet was part of a military uniform worn by Lt. Col. George Stevens Schermerhorn (1835-1926), of the 7th Regiment, New York National Guard. The 7th Regiment was formed in 1847, and was known as the "silk stocking regiment" because of its socially prominent membership. Brooks Brothers served as a military outfitter for many years.
