Description:
Medium blue wool trousers with yellow cord piping down the side of each leg; 6 button fly; 4 buttons around the waistband; right side watch pocket beneath the waistband, vertical slit pockets at the side seams; waist, fly and pocket lined with white cotton.

These trousers were worn by corporal August Westhoff when he enlisted as a private in Company D. Corporal Westhoff served at the Battle of Antietam, September 17, 1862.
