Description:
Silver filigree and cast silver plate tongs and server; bow-form tongs with filigree scrolls and bead decorated arms, medallion arch with a cast eagle, cast shell stems and a cast claw and filigree shell grips; server with filigree and bead decorated handle with a filigree shell tip, twisted stem and a flat, circular filigree bowl with a cast, twisted rim; no maker's marks.

According to the donor these tongs and server were found during excavations for a camp site in Mexico City during the occupation by American troops during the Mexican-American War.
