The/"Immoral"/Minority. Red letters on white in center; white stars on blue around border. 1 ½". The Moral Majority, Inc. was founded in 1979 by evangelical minister Jerry Falwell. The name derived from Richard Nixon's political slogan "the Silent Majority," and was designed to appeal to White conservative voters alienated by liberal attitudes. It helped elect Ronald Reagan in 1980. The organization was disbanded in 1989, but the Moral Majority as a political slogan continued to resonate throughout the 90's and into the 2000 election of George W. Bush. This button is an obvious response to the Moral Majority slogan.
