Description:
Porcelain tea bowl and saucer; decorated with alternating bands of blue enamel and gilt star pattern and blue enamel linked diamonds and gilt circles; the bowl and saucer are decorated with two birds facing each other, each holding a flower in an oval cartouche; on the cup, opposite the birds is a gilt and blue floral spray.
Gallery Label:
This tea bowl and saucer are part of a tea set given by Clarskson Crolius (1773-1893) to Elizabeth Meyer (d.1858) at the time of their marriage in 1793. Crolius was a New York Potter and politican.
