Royal blue wool tailcoat (reproduction) with short waist, having a vertical row of 3 flat metal buttons along each breast, at each cuff and one at the bottom hem of each tail; collar and cuffs of dark blue silk velvet; lined with purple sating with white linen between outer shell and lining.
Gallery Label: 
This tailcoat is a reproduction of a coat worn by Albert Gallatin (1761-1849), stateman and once acting president of the New-York Historical Society. It was worn by his descendent, Albert E. Gallatin in the re-enactment of the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, in which the elder Gallatin particpated.
