Circular pin-back button inscribed in blue and white "shadow" lettering on red ground "TAFT".
Robert Alphonso Taft (1889-1953), son of United States President William Howard Taft, continued his family's political dynasty, serving in the Ohio house of representatives and the state senate for three terms. He sought nomination as the Republican candidate for the 1940 presidential election but lost to Wendell Wilkie. This campaign button was likely produced for the 1940 election, but may date to senate campaigns as early as 1921.
