Sword (hanger) with curved, single-edged steel blade; brass knuckle-bow, quillon, grip with parallel ridges, and domed pommel cast in one piece; leather scabbard with brass throat with circular frog stud (tip missing).
According to the accession records, this French infantry sword was used by James Lyall of the 12th (Zouave) Regiment of the U.S. Army.
