Cutlass with broad, straight, double-edged steel blade; brass hilt with guard consisting of a broad strip of brass that gradually expands from the pommel, curving into a wide flat counter-guard with curved quillon with cylindrical finial; grip molded with scalloped pattern and secured to tang with two transverse rivets; pommel in the form of an oval knob with a capstan rivet; rope wrist strap tied to grip; leather scabbard with brass throat with circular frog stud and brass tip with ball finial.
