Sword (hanger) with curved, single-edged steel blade with two fullers, one broad and one narrow, and etched inscriptions, "Vincere o Morire" and "Liberta, Egualianza," on obverse and reverse; brass hilt with C-shaped knuckle-bow, grip with parallel ridges, pommel, and backstrap cast in one piece; brass scabbard with two carrying rings and asymmetrical drag.
According to the accession records, this sword (hanger) is similar to examples pictured and described in Smithsonian Institution Bulletin No. 163 (plate 38).
