Suitcase and contents belonging to resident of the Andrews Hotel, a Bowery flophouse; includes men's clothing, grooming aids, eating utensils, a hand-made ladies' sweater, and a doll.
Gallery Label: 
This suitcase was kept by a resident at the Andrews Hotel, a flophouse on the Bowery. It was abandoned and later donated to the Society by the hotel owner. The varied conents of the suitcase offer a poignant window into one man's unfortunate life. Included in the suitcase are welfare, disability, and hospital documents which relate that the man suffered from tuberculosis and receieved disability payments from the state of New York.
