Wrought silver sugar bowl; squat, round body with narrow, tapering gadrooning around the lower body; applied, stepped and concave shoulder with a horizontally applied foliate scroll band rim; seated on a short, circular, stepped and molded pedestal with a vertically applied beaded footring; two double c-scroll handles with acanthus grips and solid scroll terminuses, joined to and curved above the rims;engraved on the front center with the arms of the Maitland family, a crowned leopard seated on fess with spread arms, holding a sword in the left paw and a clover in the right; gilt interior; maker's marks stamped on the base.
