These murals may have been created for the Works Project Administration (W.P.A.), a government organization that provided employment for artists during the depression. The donor also submitted twelve etchings depicting New York scenes by Wolchonok which is catalogued in the Collection of Prints, Photographs and Architectual Drawings.
