Description: 
Leather and brass cartridge box; rectangular brown leather box with two vertical loops for shoulder belt riveted and sewn to rear, an implement pocket sewn on front, and double flaps with strap on outer flap that fastens to brass stud at bottom of box; box contains center-divided tin insert with two compartments; stamped mark on inner flap.

This cartridge box was formerly part of the Francis Bannerman collection. It was probably made to carry six packages of .52-.56 caliber Spencer rimfire cartridges, for use with Spencer or Joslyn rifles or carbines.
