Description: 
Silver "perifocal" spectacles with quadrangular lenses connected by crank bridge; temples with small loops at ends (one loop broken); soft leather case open at one end, with thumb-nail indent; stamped mark of optician (not legible).
Gallery Label: 
Marked "perifocal" on the temple, these spectacles were undoubtedly marketed with claims of improving the wearer's vision. Modern analysis of "perifocal" spectacles has not determined how these lenses differ from standard ones.
