Silver spectacles with oval lenses connected by "C" bridge; adjustable pin-slider temples with elongated loops at ends; maker's mark stamped inside right temple.

Silversmith Edmund Hughes (1787-1851) trained with Eleazer Baker in Ashford, Connecticut, and worked in Hampton and Middletown, CT. Another pair of spectacles marked by Hughes is in the Yale University Art Gallery.
