Steel spectacles with oval lenses connected by "C" bridge; lightweight adjustable turn-pin temples with straight ends.

These spectacles were owned by Albert Gallatin (1761-1849), who served as secretary of the treasury under Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, U.S. minister to France and England, and president of The New-York Historical Society from 1843 to 1849.
