Rectangular gold snuffbox with decoration consisting of striated bands covering top, bottom, and all four sides; flat lid with small, rectangular reserve at center unmarked.

According to the accession records, this snuffbox was purchased by Francis Adrian Van Der Kemp (1752-1829) with money he received in 1822 for translating the Dutch colonial records of New York State into English.
