Overall: 1/4 x 1 1/4 x 5/8 in. ( 0.6 x 3.2 x 1.6 cm )
Two brass circles with beaded designs; connected by wire link.
This link was excavated by the Field Exploration Committee from a refuse deposit near a military camp and fort at Richmond, Staten Island. Built after the arrival of British forces under General William Howe in July, 1776, the fort was occupied by British and Hessian troops until evacuation in 1783. The link may have been worn on the shirtsleeve or cuff of an officer or civilian living in the camp.
