Description:
Maple Shaker rocking chair; ladder back with three arched slats and rounded stiles with acorn-shaped finials; straight arm with shaped arm support and domed handrest; trapezoidal splint seat; rounded legs with two plain, round stretchers in front, two on either side, and one in back; rockers fitted into slots in bottom of chair legs.

Chairmaking was a major industry of the Shakers, and the slat-back chair was one of the chief forms they produced.
