Mahogany Federal sideboard; shaped top has a bowed center and shaped backboard with scrolled ends; edge of top has a triple bead molding; case has bowed central section with single drawer over open arch; central section flanked by sections with small drawer above cabinet; leaf and punch carved turret stiles with concentric circles carved across tops; stiles continue to tapered, reeded, ring-turned, legs with acanthus-carved sections; turned ball feet; tag of Duncan Phyfe's workshop affixed to back of middle drawer.
Although this sideboard has a Duncan Phyfe trade card affixed to the back of a drawer, its decorative features suggest it was made in Salem, MA. The sideboard may have been repaired in Phyfe's workshop, or the trade card may have been added to fool prospective buyers.
