Walnut Queen Anne side chair; crooked back with yoke-shaped crest rail and vase-shaped splat with sharply incut neck; compass slip seat with black leather (possibly sealskin) upholstery supported by small, pointed seat blocks in front; cabriole legs with pad feet in front, and chamfered legs in rear; side, back, and medial stretchers all turned.

According to the accession records, a label inscribed "This chair belonged to / Gen. Wendall P. Smith" was once pasted on the inside of the seat rail. The leather seat and marsh-grass filling may be original.
