Pair of red wool 1st lieutenant's shoulder straps with gold metal thread embroidered bars at each end and border around edges.

These shoulder straps were worn by John A. Sniffen when he served with the 7th Regiment, 6th Company. According to the accession record, he entered the military in April, 1861.
