Description: 
Pair of 1st lieutenant's shoulder straps; rectangular with gold embroidered border and two gold embroidered bars, one at either end of red felt ground at center.
Gallery Label: 
According to the accession records, these shoulder straps were worn by Joseph H. Bradley while serving as 1st lieutenant in the 5th New York Volunteer Infantry ("Duryee's Zouaves") during the Civil War. Bradley held the rank of 1st lieutenant from September to November, 1861.
