Description:
Pair of officer's shoulder straps, each rectangular with two gold embroidered maple leaves on blue velvet ground inside gold embroidered border.
Gallery Label:
A note found with these shoulder straps indicates that they belonged to Anthony Wills, who served in the Brooklyn-based 28th Regiment of Infantry, New York State Militia, during and after the Civil War. Wills, the father of the donor, was commissioned a captain on February 20, 1863, and promoted to major on December 6, 1871.
