Description: 
Brass shoulder belt plate; circular brass plate with two iron loops fastened to back, and palmetto tree stamped on front center, flanked on left and right by two oval shields encircled by inscriptions along edges that lean against bottom of trunk, and with mark stamped on patch of land below tree.

This plate was probably worn on the shoulder belt of a South Carolina private during the Civil War.
