Description: 
Leather and brass shoulder belt with cartridge box and bayonet frog; black leather belt has circular, brass plate stamped with star at right end that fastens to clip at left end; teardrop-shaped leather frog with billet for bayonet scabbard fastened with loop to left side of belt; rectangular black leather box with belt running through two vertical and one horizontal loop at rear, two straps that fasten to loops on front sides of box, and flap with strap that fastens to brass stud at bottom of box.

According to accession records, this shoulder belt and cartridge box were part of a uniform worn by the donor's father, Private David P. Davis, while serving in the 5th New York Volunteer Infantry (Duryea's Zouaves) during the Civil War.
