Shirtwaist: lavender colored w/lace

Lavender silk shirtwaist tucked and pleated from shoulder to waist; long sleeves that come to a point, gather at the wrist, interior cuff of needlepoint lace; low v-shaped neckline; double layered floral needlepoint lace lapels to the waist; lined with sheer silk and machine made net; white cotton waistband; purple crewel-style embroidery at cuffs and pleating at front; metal hook and eye closures.
This shirtwaist was worn by Mrs. Charles A. Davenport. It is trimmed with elegant thread lace made in Europe or probably Northhamptonshire in the late 18th century. The lace belonged to her ancestor, Mrs. Clement Miller of Barbados, West Indies, and Cooperstown, N.Y.
