Description:
Triangular dark blue silk velvet shawl with floral and grapes on grapevine design around outer edges, separated by various colors of checker patterns embroidered in knots, multi-colored fringe around the outer edges.

This shawl was worn by Mrs. Fleming James (Mary Armstrong, 1805-1871) at the inaugural ball of Martin Van Buren.
