Description: 
Leather, brass, and iron cartridge box; rectangular black leather box with two vertical and one horizontal loop for shoulder belt sewn and riveted to rear, two iron buckles at bottom, an implement pocket, and double flaps with strap on outer flap that fastens to brass stud on bottom; box contains wooden block with twenty bored holes for cartridges; stamped mark on inner flap.

This cartridge box was probably made for use with .52 or .56 caliber Spencer, Joslyn, or Remington carbine cartridges. It was formerly part of the Francis Bannerman collection.
