Description:
Black felt shako with slightly tapered cylindrical crown that is angled forward, and black patent leather top and visor, the latter stiff and somewhat rectangular; chin strap secured at either side by a button embossed with crossed cannon; gilded metal insignia of the 7th Regiment, National Guard New York, affixed below shield on front; hole for pompon in front edge of top (pompon missing); leather sweatband with lacing.
