Description:
Olive drab wool service cap with brown leather visor and chin strap; gilded metal insignia plate consisting of shield-breasted eagle below banner and starburst; button securing chin strap decorated with similar motif.
Gallery Label:
The insignia on this cap appears to be that of the Detached Enlisted Men's List (DEML), a classification created after World War I for enlisted men who had previously been identified by various other insignia.
