Gold struck medal with obverse having central reserve surrounded by floral wreath; within wreath: legend: "SANTINI PRIZE MEDAL/ENDOWED 1870"; inscription at center: "To/HAROLD/WALSH/MARYLAND/75-76." Reverse with central reserve within open laurel wreath; legend: "WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY./1796.-1871"; inscription at center: "Nomine/Famaque/Conjuncti."; Square red leather case with pale green silk satin and burgundy red silk velvet lining; yellow metal closure.
