Renaissance Revival sofa with floral brocade upholstery over pine and poplar frame; square shape with low back, padded arms, fringe and tassel skirt, and slightly tapered block legs with casters.

According to the accession records, this sofa was cut down for a window in the Asher B. Durand house in South Orange, N.J. Before that, it was used as a sitter's bench in the artist's studio at 91 Amity Street in New York City.
