Cotton block-printed and copperplate-printed campaign kerchief with three rectangular sections bordered by stars; center section has a copperplate-printed image of Samuel Jones Tilden running for president, in a block-printed garland of oak leaves and acorns; text in other sections printed in black and red on a beige ground.
Gallery Label: 
Samuel Tilden (1814-1886) ran for president in 1876 with Thomas Hendricks against Rutherford B. Hayes. Tilden received the majority of the popular vote, but lost the election when key states were claimed by Republican managers.
