Linen drawstring pouch with initials inscribed in ink: "C A B"; originally held doubloon given to Catherine Anna Remsen by her great-grandmother.
A note with the pouch states that it originally contained a doubloon, given by Anna Rutgers Bancker (1736-1822) to her great-granddaughter Catherine Anna Remsen (Mrs. Frederick Schuchardt) when she was a little girl, telling her never to part from it unless her children needed bread. It descended to the great-great-great granddaughter of Anna Rutgers Bancker, Julia Lawrence Wells (d. 1954) and was donated by her first cousin.
Gift of Mrs. Edward Rutledge
