Plaque in case: Royal Order George I (Greece)
Badge on ribbon and plaque in a case. Badge suspended from a red grosgrain ribbon, white-enamel Latin cross pattée in front of a laurel wreath, below a crown. Central obverse disk in red enamel features two crossed gammas below a crown, white enamel ring surrounding the design includes a Greek inscription. Plaque is identical to the badge, with the design superimposed on a four-pointed starburst.
The Royal Order of George I was founded in 1915 by King Constantine I in honor of his father, George I. The order was abolished when the Greek monarchy was dissolved in 1924, and reinstituted from 1935 through 1973.
