Description:
Wrought and seamed silver pitcher; pear-shaped body, seamed beneath the handle, on a circular foot with an applied, die-rolled acanthus footring; neck flares to the rim, low on the sides, with a wide pouring lip; die-rolled acanthus and dart band applied around the outside of the rim; double-scroll handle, cast in vertical halves, partially covered with acanthus decoration; engraved band of grape leaves below the rim and three engraved cartouches on the sides, left and right of the handle depict Asian landscapes, the front center engraved, "C P December 1st/ 1917 H H C J/ R. W. S. Pierson/ to R W S/ from J. & C. J. P./ and MM/ Oct. 1887." in script; makers' marks stamped on the base.
