Circular metal pin-back button "PEACE CORPS"; dove, stars and stripes; red, white and blue.
On March 1, 1961, President John F. Kennedy signed an executive order establishing the United States Peace Corps. Since that date, the Peace Corps has pursued three goals: to help people of interested countries to meet their need for trained men and women; to help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served; and to help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.
