Description: 
White cotton christening gown petticoat with a wide waistband; pleated below the waistline; extremely long skirt with two bands of eight tucks divided by a band of floral whitework above the hem; hem trimmed with scalloped foliate whitework embroidery.

This petticoat was made by the donor's aunt for an expected child. The baby, however, was stillborn, and the mother died in childbirth.
