This may have been drawn from a study by Louis Simond (1767-1831), with whom the baroness was acquainted. A letter from Alexandre, Comte d'Hauterive to Baroness Hyde de Neuville, November 9. 1815 (in the Society's collection), discusses plates for Simond's book. A sheet with the letterhead of the French Legation in the United States, New Brunswick, New Jersey, accompanied the baroness's sketch.
