Bronze struck medal with nude bust of Washington facing right surrounded by legend: "'THE CONSTITUTION IS SACREDLY OBLIGATORY ON ALL'". Reverse bears inscription at center: "OATH OF ALLEGIANCE/TAKEN BY THE/OFFICERS AND WORKMEN/SEPT.2.1861"; legend: "U.S. MINT" (above) and "JAS. POLLOCK, DIR." (below).
