Description:
Seamed silver nutmeg grater; oval body with straight sides; hinged, flat lid with straight sides; flat, inset hinged base; oval grater applied across the top of the interior; diamond engraved on the top; bands of triangles engraved around the edges; no maker's marks.
Gallery Label:
This nutmeg grater was used by Joshua Brookes (1773-1859), the great-grandfather of the donor, for his hot toddies.
