Description: 
Bronze struck medal with obverse depicting, within octagonal panel at center, two subway trains running on the tracks inside tunnel; above is seal of New York surmounted by eagle and flanked by figures of settler and Native American, below is seal of the Chamber of Commerce of the State of New York and open laurel wreath with band bearing dates: "1894" and :1904"; legend on band around border: "SUGGESTED BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE . AUTHORIZED BY THE STATE . CONSTRUCTED BY THE CITY." Reverse bears inscription within laurel wreath: "PRESENTED BY/THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE/OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK/TO/[blank rectangular tablet for name]/IN RECOGNITION OF HIS SERVICES/AS A MEMBER OF THE/RAPID TRANSIT COMMISSION"; winged wheel, symbol of Mercury, god of commerce, beneath. Medal is inset into dark brown square fitted leather case with green silk satin and silk velvet interior.
