Margaret Crosby was the daughter of John Player Crosby and Margaret (Butler) Crosby of New York City. Her grandfather, Benjamin F. Butler, was attorney general under President Martin Van Buren. Her husband, George Frederick Munn (1852-1907), was a sculptor, landscapist, and painter of flowers and figures. Mrs. Munn was a novelist, poet, playwright, and short-story writer.
