Amie (or Amey) Richmond Fearing was the daughter of Daniel Butler Fearing (d. 1870), a New York merchant, and Harriet Fearing. Her husband, Frederick Sheldon (1821-1907), was a writer and connoisseur of literature. The couple lived in New York and summered in Newport, R.I.
