Auguste Edouart's silhouette of the Henry Maunsell Schieffelin family depicts four figures: Mr. Henry M. Schieffelin, standing, holding a high hat; Sarah, his wife, standing, offering a piece of sheet music to her mother who is seated; and Mrs. Schieffelin's sister, holding a small hand bag. Henry M. Schieffelin lived at 27 Waverly Place in New York City.
